Congratulations to the winner of the Relay for Life t-shirt design contest - Kenneth Panuga, an 8th grader in Mrs. Phillips' homeroom. You will soon be able to purchase t-shirts with Kenneth's "Let's Paint Out Cancer" logo. The runner up for the contest was 7th grader Keionte Pierce in Mrs. Frye's homeroom. Eighth grader Israel Ashe, also in Mrs. Phillips' homeroom, and sixth grader Heidi Flores in Mrs. Traylor's homeroom were also finalists. There were almost 200 entries, so the competition was fierce and the judging difficult. Thank you to all who entered.

Attention 8th Graders:
If you have ever thought about running your own business or turning everyday ideas into real-world products or services, the Clyde L. Strickland Entrepreneurship Program at Discovery High School may be just the educational experience for you! All GCPS rising freshman are invited to apply to the Discovery High School Entrepreneurship Program for the 2016-2017 school year, Accepted applicants will attend Discovery High School under permissive transfer. Please submit an application by June 30, 2016 by email or the street address on the application.
Concussions are a serious type of brain injury caused by a jolt, blow or just a simple bump to the head that changes the way the brain normally works. Establishing a baseline profile of how the brain functions pre-injury is imperative in diagnosing and treating concussions.
Participants will learn about concussions and baselines, complete the baseline testing and finish with an optional post-test Q&A. For more accurate results, exercise is not recommended three hours prior to the test.
